One-of-a-kind-Zhangjiajie-National-Park

“One of a Kind” – Zhangjiajie National Park, China

Within a land of hills and trees stands mountainous rocks

That tower above the valley low.

Greenery that grows into the misty sky above the clouds that drift quietly by.

It is a place of mystic joy, a place of peace, in an earthly plane.

An exotic land that spans the ancient space and time.

It is one of a kind… envisioned by Universal Mind.

It’s uniqueness for all to see…a divine mystery

Of the old and new China entwined.

The beauty and intrigue of such a spot

Is a haven for a heavenly lot.

A place where time has stopped

As the world swirls out of control

The Lord creates a place for spirits to play.

And man to comprehend the holy scrolls.

It is a place that takes your breath away.

A place to kneel and pray.

A place where ancients lay

In a land of the old and new entwined

A place for all to see their own inner Divinity

Today I am leaving for a trip to China.  I will be gone for two weeks and will be back on line by July 4th.  I am not sure how much access I will have to the internet but if possible I will post from China pictures and thoughts of this incredible experience.  Once I return I will have a lot to catch up on… so keep on writing and I look forward to reading your post soon.

Today’s poem was inspired by this photo of Zhangiiajie Park in China.  I first posted this poem in May 2012 and today with minor changes I hope you enjoy it.

Wrapped in a silk cocoon suspended in the Lord’s light.
The journey of the soul to leave the dark night,
is protected with all God’s might.
In human form when the choice is made
God gives his all for his creation to be saved.
The pain and agony of the dark night
gone as you journey into the light.
The illusions of your thoughts
fade away as if it is ice
melting on a sweltering day.
Within the cocoon of love
there is great inner peace
that nurtures your soul..
The memories of the dark night
a small part of your spirits life.
The “you,” of old,
gone with the alchemy of your soul.
Suspended in light wrapped lovingly in God’s might
Your spirit must rest for what God’s will for you
will require your best.

In early June I was blessed with another award nomination by Tanumoy Biswas the Nomadic Soliquist. Tanumoy nominated me for the “Galore A foursome Treat,” Award. While I have been delayed in posting I am most appreciative and blessed to have this honor.

Tanumoy has a very vibrant and enjoyable site. He is a poet, philosopher and an artist. You’ll love the music that plays as you get drawn into his words. One of the striking things for me about Tanumoy and his site is the thought that goes into every banner, and saying he post. One such banner reads, “The unexamined life is not worth living” by Socrates. At first I thought how wrong, every life is worth living. Yet, each time I have come to his site this message has been unraveling a deeper understanding.  As I look back within my own life I recognize the truth of these words. I once went through life with monotony and living to expectations I did not understand nor did I believe them to be my own. It took looking deep within to find myself and to embrace the great joy of living.  So the wisdom of Tanumoy’s site is forever unfolding in me and I thank him for this wonderful blessing.

Throughout my life I have been blessed to meet so many incredible people. They are successful, creative, or just plain wonderful for the love they give. It is easy to remember them for their presence and tangible gifts that I see, hear or receive. Sometimes the most inspiring people to me are the ones that touched many people before me and now journey a path that only a few share with them. They have gone from a dynamic individual, and often a life of service for their family, their community, their church, or for the nation, to a journey much different than the one they once lived. They have gone from their peak of greatness to their physical and mental decline. By the time we meet their abilities are so different than who they once were and who others believed them to be. Some are loved unconditionally, yet many are caught in the emotional struggle of family. Loved ones often fear losing them as they were, and fear seeing them in who they have become. Nursing has blessed me to see the beauty in their journey and to be touched by their spirits presence regardless of the frail physical form. Today I write in honor of the gift of love they give me in sharing their presence.

Ode to an Elderly Women

Living within the wrinkled flesh
Sitting before me looking a mess,
Sucking oxygen to take the next breath.
Hair gray and thin crumpled in a birds nest.
Spoken words inaudible
Rotting odor on your breath.
Eyes glassed over as your
Spirit gazes back at me.
I hear it say, “I’m almost free!”
Your earthly years old and wise
Your soul’s life far beyond the human mind.
What a journey your life has been,
A mother, a wife, a business women,
Who survived life’s strife.
Once a beauty that men craved,
You would flash a smile and wear the fashion craze.
Now a sack of bones that just break,
As your dirty clothing hides your loving grace.
Once athletic, chasing your dream,
Now locked in your past is all you see.
Who you are today you do not know
But the past memories give you a loving glow.

Ode to a Veteran

A man so proud who went off to war
A strong man, husband, father and so much more.
Now shattered, limbless, with an injured brain,
You smile with joy as if you were the same.
Your earthly years young compared too many
Your body worn from the anger of war.
You valiantly gave your physical form
For the love of country that you adore.
Your soul’s life far beyond the human mind.
What a journey you have embarked
As you left your life behind.
The gifts from God is all you see
As I greet your spirit each time we met.
My journey regardless of length in time
Has been blessed by the smile you shine.

seed-of-light-award1

I am honored to be nominated by Soumya for the “Seed of Light” award. I love the name of the award and the idea that my words/poems can be a “seed of light” for another.

Soumya has always been a “seed of light” for me since I started this blog.   She is creative and has tirelessly dedicated herself to her blogs and writing.    Over this past 15 months she has always used her kind and loving words to encourage myself and others. I am very touched and appreciative that Soumya continues to see good in my words.  Please visit it at http://soumyav.wordpress.com and I know you will enjoy and grow through her wonderful post.
I have received other awards since starting this blog and I must admit, I often feel mixed emotions.  It is a lovely gesture, and heart warming to receive appreciation from others who find something meaningful in my words.  Yet, I am still new in my journey and soaking up the images, knowledge of others, learning from their words and views and I often feel not yet ready for the accolades.  Perhaps learning to accept is part of my learning

Many blogs I follow are poetry, spiritual, and religious in nature from all over the world with many different cultural influences.  All of these blogs bring to me a greater understanding of who I am within the loving embrace of God and with each of you in unity within the consciousness.  As a novice blogger I know there are thousands of blogs out there spreading “seeds of light” and inspiring thousands and millions of souls with their photos, art, music and words.   At this time I have only dipped my toe into the sea of blogs. So today I choose to honor Soumya’s acknowledgement with a poem….called “Seed of Light” and I dedicate this to all bloggers who share in love their creativity and the lessons of their journey.

Adrift within the breath of the wind,

      floating to a barren land.

Landing gently among the dirty grain,

bathed so lovingly by the rain.

A seed of light,

      buried by worldly debris.

In a place where no one

      would think it may be.

Hidden in a place without light,

      the seed is a speck…a sparkle…that ignites.

A seed of light sent out by the Lord

is growing on your heart’s shore.

A breath, a sigh, the light illuminates the soul inside.

A twinkle from a star so far

has great power to transform who you are.

Adrift in the life you live

the gift of the soul to give.

A moment in time to take

the Lord’s love into your heart and mind.

An emotion and gift so deep,

the seeds of light become the roots

that anchor you to Divine belief.

A seed of light adrift within the wind

Is a gift the Lord does give.

•*¨*•¸¸¸.•*¨*•☆ •*¨*•¸¸¸.•*

May all your seeds shine in the glory of God’s light!

Namaste, mary
